87% Youth Sleeping with mobile phone
Recent research found that send an SMS to the most popular teen communication system, and a third was reported to send more than 100 messages every day. Research from the Pew Internet and American Life Project, which provides glimpses of culture and communications of U.S. teenagers found that SMS delivery increased dramatically since 2008, including calls via mobile, social networking and face-to-face conversation. Pew Research Center said three to four teenagers aged 12 to 17 now have mobile phones and take advantage of whatever is offered. Women's 80 most send or receive SMS messages each day and men 30 per day. "IM is now a communications center in this teenager's life and such continued to soar into the sky during the last 18 months," said Pew researcher Amanda Lenhart, adding an increase in subscription fee allows unlimited messaging. This study also revealed that, unlike phone calls, send SMS can not be under the supervision of a parent, teacher or other authority figures. And unlike the computer, sending the message can be made anywhere. "We're at a turning point in which teenage adolescents expect others to reply to their message and continue to be available," says Lenhart. "This is clearly an SMS so prominently in their lives." SMS has become a very important part in the lives of teenagers in which 87% of them said he slept with or located next to their phones.
